Jog-A-Thon Kickoff Rally – Create your account today and let’s get fundraising! =)

We kicked off our Jonas Salk Jog-a-thon yesterday with an awesome #Boosterthon Pep Rally!  Register your student at (they get a prize just for registering!) and enter all pledges from friends/family to help our school and earn more rewards. Thanks for your support!  ~ Principal Hardson



Our Jonas Salk Jog-a-thon kicked off yesterday with an exciting Pep Rally and we are thrilled about this year’s program! We’ve asked the Fun Run experts at Boosterthon to power our two-week Fun Run program, making our fundraising simpler, more profitable, and more fun. Our Fun Run includes EVERY student in a fun, fitness event that focuses on character while helping our school raise much-needed funds.

This year, our entire school is raising funds for Field trips and we need YOUR help!

Here’s how you can support Jonas Salk:

  • Register your student on by searching “Jonas Salk” Once you do, your student will receive a FREE GIFT just for being registered. Then, use to log pledges for your child.
  • Reach out to sponsors. Every student’s goal is to connect with 10 sponsors. And with’s smart sharing features, reaching out to sponsors is easier than ever. The easiest way to get pledges is to simply click the Facebook share button on your student’s pledge page. Plus, with a few clicks you can create a custom Student Star video to share on social media. You can also use the Easy Emailer to connect with friends and family. As you gather pledges, be sure to record each sponsor’s e-mail address so they have the opportunity to easily pay for your student’s pledge online via credit card.
  • Ask your child about the MindSpark Mystery Lab Character Lesson of the day! This year’s character program is a S.T.E.A.M theme all about solving problems with character. As they solve mysteries together, five brainy students will encourage our students to live with character. Join along by watching the fun character videos with your child on
  • Come to the Fun Run on Friday, April 12th! All students are included in the Fun Run, regardless of financial participation. Remember, students will be running 30-35 laps, and we would love for you to come out and cheer!

March PTA Restaurant Night – THIS Thursday, 3/14 – JOIN US!

This month we’re so happy to partner up again with our local Mira Mesa Chili’s. Be sure to EITHER present a digital copy OR present the hard copy of the event flyer… this way we can ensure 15% of our event day sales to be donated to our school! The flyers will be going home this week, so be sure to check your kid(s) folders!

1030am to 1030pm. Plenty of time to participate!  Can’t stick around??? Order to go! =)

PTA Board Members 2019-2020 – we need YOU! Deadline – Friday, 3/1/19

“Shrinking budgets. Increasing class sizes. Government mandates. The challenges of delivering quality education are daunting. There is help. It’s the PTA. 

… PTA addresses issues that are important to parents and public school administrators. We fight for full funding, quality teachers, and capabilities for schools to thrive. If your school or district does not have a PTA, now is the time. Membership is open to everyone. Your PTA is autonomous but supported by a national structure. It sets its own dues.”

With the above mentioned we cannot stress enough how important and necessary that every year we fill every mandatory PTA Board position to ensure an optimized and well functioning team.

Our current open positions are:

  • Membership
  • Secretary
  • Treasurer
  • Auditor
  • Historian

Also please note we also have Committee Positions:

  • Health and Safety
  • Jogathon
  • Sponsorship & Community Fundraising
  • Movies and Main Events

  • Communications/Web/Social Media
  • eScrips/Passive Fundraising

Some of these key roles are limited to a 2 year term, therefor we need to ensure our Jonas Salk families are aware and get the opportunity to hold a position.  These are your child(rens) initial years of public education.  Our community has many parents who have the awesome skill-sets or desire to build these skill-sets for these open positions!  It’s such a great opportunity to play an integral role in molding your kid(s) elementary school experience!

As with fairly new programs and our site near completing its 4th school year ever… we are going through some growing pains.   Lessons are learned as we go and we continually strive to improve on these so that we build a standardized program that will only get better and better each year.   Our deadline for this years’ nominations/elections is tomorrow, Friday, 3/1/19.  

We need you Jonas Salk Elementary families!  Take a chance on making a huge difference on the lives of not just your children, but all of our Jonas Salk Elementary kids!  Join us.  Put your name in for consideration for the 2019-2020 school year.
