(per email communication)
Dear Parents/Guardians and Staff:
We are excited to welcome you back to school on Monday, August 28, the first day of instruction for all students. We hope you had a wonderful summer break.
Our principals, teachers, and support staff have been working hard to prepare for the first day of school and beyond. Please help us start the school year right by making sure your child is at school Monday, on time and ready to learn.
You may be aware that warm temperatures are expected next week. Please be assured that our schools will do everything possible to make sure students and staff are safe and comfortable during the school day. All schools have a Hot Weather Plan that will be implemented, if needed. You may check with your school for a copy of their Hot Weather Plan (link below) or visit the district website for Hot Weather procedures. Your principal will alert you if excessive heat warrants a minimum-day schedule.
In the event of hot weather, please make sure your child is dressed in light, loose fitting clothing. We also ask you to encourage your child to drink water throughout the day to ensure they get adequate fluids.
Thank you for your support and the privilege of serving your child. We look forward to welcoming students and families back on August 28.
Sincerely,
The San Diego Unified School District
